The Rila Monastery is located in Rila Mauntain and in 1,147 above the sea level. No doubt it is the biggest tourist attraction for its size, natural surroundings , architecture, wal l- paintings and ancient history. Through the Revival was a supreme achievement of the Bulgarian monumental architecture. The monastery takes about 8800 square meters. Outside the architecture looks strong like fortress, but inside , the yard is pictureresque and has arhes, colonnades, covered wooden stairs and carved verandas.

The image of Rila Monastery architecture is presented through the art combination of different forms and proportions of two architecture elements - the arch and the tige. The Rila Monastery was founded from Ivan Rilski in 927-941 on the place of the Old Anchoress. At the yard of the monastery in 1335 was built the Tower of Hrelyu and a small church, the creator was the local feudal Lord Hrelin. The Monastery was a literaly and enlightment centre. The monastery was generously gifted by the bulgarian rulers with land properties. Through the Ottoman rule was robbed and destroyed by fire but still remained centre of the culture and national spirit. In 1795 was built the church „Vavedenie Bogorodichno“, during 1799 was built the church „St. Luka“, during 1805 – the church „ Holy Protection of the Theotokos“. After the fire in 1833 was lift up the church „St. Bogorodica“ still existing today and constructed by Pavel Yovanovich. It lies east of the yard and through open arcade connects with the wings architecturally. It was drawn by a famous masters like Toma Vishanov, Dimitar and Zahari Zograff. In conjunction with the religious painting there are everyday and historical stages. Rila Monastery possesses some old precious icons, valuable manuscripts, early printed church books, documents, charters and etc. In 1961 Rila Monastery was announced as a Cultural National Historical Monument. The Dragalevtzi Monastery is located close to Dragalevtzi a quarter of Sofia city at the foot of Vitosha mountain.The Dragalevtzi Monastery “Virgin Mary” is from the group of monasteries which have sprung up at the end of XIV and XV c . around Sofia , known with the complex name of Sofia's Sacred Forest. The monastery is mentioned in the Vitosha's gold honorary diploma of the Bulgarian king Ivan Shishman which tells about its relation to the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.

The monastery has been renovated and the church decorated in 1476with the money of the founder -the boyar Radoslav Mavar from Sofia. From the old monastery complex is preserved only the church .In building style it resembles the other churches built in the period of XV c.The church is decorated with remarkable in terms of quality murals. From the original paintings are preserved the fallowing : “ Pilat's court ” , “ Judah returns the silver coins ” , “ Judah's hanging ” ,” Peter's Recantations “.The bigger part of the walls is covered with murals from a later period.The Dragalevtzi monastery has been an important literary centre in the Sofia Region . Several manuscript books are known with the names of their scribbler, who have worked in this monastery:priest Nikola, who rewrites a gospel in 1469; an unknown grammarian who have rewritten the Dragalevtzi's Gospel, decorated with silver facing in 1534.
